Wachau World Heritage Site
The Wachau Cultural Landscape was inscribed on the UNESCO List of World Heritage Sites in 2000.
In the Wachau, a river landscape surrounded by mountains, important witnesses of its long historic evolution are extraordinarily well conserved. The architecture, the human settlements and the agricultural use, specifically the wine terraces, vividly depict a mediaeval landscape that has developed organically and harmoniously through the ages.
