Die Vierte Wand - Aussichtwarte Seekopf

Der Seekopf gehört mit der Hirschwand zu einem von WanderInnen geschätzten und beliebten Ausflugsziel am Welterbesteig. Durch eine Aussichtswarte ist ein phänomenaler Rundblick möglich. Der bestehende Turm ist bereits über 25 Jahre alt und muss wegen Morschheit aus Sicherheitsgründen bald abgebaut werden. Der Verein Jankerlklub Rossatz und die Marktgemeinde Rossatz-Arnsdorf setzen sich für die Errichtung eines neuen Turms ein, um weiterhin die lohnende Aussicht in die Wachau bieten zu können.

Dialogue on the mission statement for culturally relevant construction in the UNESCO Wachau World Heritage Site

Citizens asked for their opinions. In June 2019, within the scope of a public civic dialogue, the citizens of the Wachau were able to talk to experts about their wishes and suggestions as the basis for the future management of building development in the Wachau World Heritage Site.

Bewegung und Sport spielen im Hinblick auf die Erhaltung lebenslanger Gesundheit eine wichtige Rolle und trotzdem belegen Studien den Mangel an Bewegung und Sport in der österreichischen Bevölkerung. Der „bewegUNSpark Melk“ soll helfen diesen Missstand in Melk und Umgebung zu ändern und das Ganze barrierefrei.

LIFE project WACHAU – lively Danube, dry grasslands, natural forest

The Wachau project is the first LIFE project implemented in the region whose goal was to conserve the region’s most endangered habitats. This resulted in three focal points: Lively Danube, dry grasslands and natural forest.

Wachau Zones

Through the provision of a development plan, Wachau Zones enable the municipalities to determine possible development in historically valuable settlement areas more precisely than with conventional methods. The concept of the Wachau Zones is therefore one of the central elements for preserving the building culture typically found in the Wachau as a World Heritage Site.

LIFE+ project Wilderness Wetland Wachau

The currently running project “Wilderness Wetland Wachau” is intended to follow on from two previous LIFE projects in the region. Extensive measures for revitalising the remains of old river courses are planned during the project period. Existing areas of riparian forest on already existing and newly created islands should be improved and expanded. The creation of spawning waters is envisaged for highly endangered amphibians such as the yellow-bellied toad and the Danube northern crested newt, nests will be created for white-tailed eagles and valuable old trees will be protected.

LIFE+ project Wachau-Mostviertel

The LIFE+ project Mostviertel-Wachau includes measures on the Danube and the Ybbs river. Revitalisation measures are being implemented on the Ybbs in Amstetten and on the Pielach, and disconnected side arms of the Danube are being reconnected to the river in the Wachau.

Structural refurbishment and gardening within the scope of Wachau 2010plus

As a historic cultural landscape, the Wachau is overflowing with heritage-listed buildings. In addition to the refurbishment of venerable buildings, Wachau 2010plus also enabled the implementation of projects in the area of gardening and cultural heritage.
