The World Heritage Centre at the boat station in Stein, in the municipality of Krems, was opened in September 2011. Ever since then, it has proven to be extraordinarily stable in terms of its design and substance. However, seven years later, some of the information is no longer up to date and a few things have happened in the region in recent years that are not represented on the information panels in the World Heritage Centre.

During the overhaul, another display case will be installed in the middle of the World Heritage Centre’s current layout. This information box should elaborate on topics in cooperation with the municipality of Krems and the Free Evangelical Church Krems. One of the two sides presents special topics for the year in question and is designed to be a “temporary exhibition area”. For 2018, the impact of “Kremser Schmidt” on World Cultural Heritage will be addressed on the occasion of his 300th birthday.

In addition, the content of nine existing information panels will be revised. Seven information panels will be entirely redesigned and improved. The topics of Kremser Schmidt, the enjoyment of nature, settlement, townscape, Protestantism and Counter-Reformation, vineyards, the Kunstmeile Krems art district, Wachau contemporary, and Art in the public space will be addressed here.
